Nharangga Word
Nhildidjari
English Word
a coastal area of Nharangga land, near Cape Spencer, also known as Rhino Head
Definition/Cultural Note
- part of the Badhara-Ngarna Dreaming.- the head itself is 100 feet high, composed of limestone, probably all terrestrial dune limestones.- Ngarna is seen as an outcrop of rock.- there is some confusion in the sources about the names of places also known as Corny Point, Rhino Head and Royston Head, so that it may not be not fully certain which place has which Nharangga name.- this place is also described as Lagoon north of Cable Hut, or at Cable Hut itself.- M.Klein suggested to Tindale the literal meaning striped (or shaped) blanket. This does not match the words in Nharangga sources.
