Definition/Cultural Note

see spelling and pronunciation for notes on rrd.- the most likely spot for this waterhole is in an area known in the early twentieth century as Mr Mays property, at the corner of the Mount Rat road. The waterhole is about 40-50 yards from the road.- Lewis OBrien has a story about an emu who gazed at his reflection in the water until he was barred from ever looking at his reflection again. This is evident now in the way that an emu scoops up water to drink.- Garrumalga is also recorded, but this might be a different place, perhaps relating to gum trees gura rather than emus.- literally emu waterhole.
