marda gawi
marda (1)
although Gladys Elphick and Cliff Edwards note that this can be a good or bad smell, it seems that good smell is more usual. Kuhn records marda as sweet, or good taste.
marawardi
different sources also identify this as the bobtailed lizard, and the stumpy-tail, but contemporary elders say it is the sleepy lizard.
mara gagga
- we have only one record of this word, in the collection from Arrito/Snell - an important source because it was recorded well before the mission period, but it has several errors.- it is not fully clear from Snells transcription what this word is. If mara gagga is correct, this would mean literally head of the hand.
manggudja
the verb stem is manggu. word endings are added directly onto the stem: manggu-dja.- see community grammar book the fragments of Budderers waddy for details of how to use Nharangga verbs.
